Couple Files Mesothelioma Lawsuit Against Lockheed Martin

Mesothelioma victims often choose to pursue legal action against those responsible for their disease. In doing so, they are often like David battling Goliath, taking on corporate giants in their quest for justice. A recently filed case epitomizes the disparity that is seen in these legal battles: an aircraft mechanic and his wife have filed suit against Lockheed Martin Corporation, 3M, and General Dynamics, accusing all three of being responsible for his illness after failing to warn him and others of the dangers posed by asbestos in their products.

According to the lawsuit, the mesothelioma victim started his 40-year career as an aircraft mechanic immediately after having graduated from high school in 1963 Over the years he was continuously exposed to asbestos-contaminated airplane parts, breathing in microscopic particles of the carcinogenic material, which was incorporated into many aircraft applications as a result of its added strength and insulating capabilities. Though employees and others who worked with the products were unaware of asbestos’ dangers, the companies that used the material were well versed in its dangers, and chose to keep the information secret in order to continue earning profits from its use. Over the years since this subterfuge was discovered, many mesothelioma victims have successfully filed legal claims seeking compensation for the damages that they suffered. These claims can provide them with reimbursement for their medical bills and out-of-pocket expenses, as well as for lost wages, their pain and suffering, and to provide for their families economic security after their eventual death from the terminal and rare for of cancer.

The mesothelioma lawsuit against Lockheed Martin and the other companies states that the man “was exposed to and inhaled, ingested or otherwise absorbed large amounts of asbestos fibers emanating from various asbestos-containing products that he was working with and around which were manufactured, sold, distributed, or installed by the defendants.”

Mesothelioma victims are entitled to the security of knowing that their families will be taken care of after they are gone. For information about the various resources available to you, contact the Patient Advocates at Mesothelioma.net today at 1-800-692-8608.
