The Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation is a unique organization. It has the distinction of being the only 501 ( C ) 3 non-profit that works towards eliminating mesothelioma while at the same time providing support and comfort for those who are afflicted by this rare and always fatal form of cancer.

The Meso Foundation (MARF),actively fundraises in order to provide monies for the purpose of enabling peer-reviewed mesothelioma research. Their efforts are also aimed at educational efforts and patient support, as well as grass roots and professional lobbying efforts aimed at encouraging the United States Congress to increase money provided to fund mesothelioma research.

Their efforts have provided over $8.7 million dollars in research money.

In addition to fundraising, the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation expends tremendous energy trying to support mesothelioma patients and their families in every way they can. Their comprehensive website features a number of helpful resources, including one of the most complete lists of clinical trials available for mesothelioma patients, as well as helpful information about what to expect and how to become involved in these potentially groundbreaking studies.

Now, the organization has announced that they have assembled a booklet specifically focused on this important information, and it has just been released to the public.

The booklets coal is to provide intensive and helpful information regarding clinical trials, with a specific focus on how they are used to advance the existing knowledge about mesothelioma. It guides the reader through a series of steps that can help them to assess whether a specific clinical trial is appropriate for them, as well as in how to select the ones that are likely to provide the most benefit.

Clinical trials like those that are described in the booklet are one of the best hopes for finding a cure for mesothelioma. At this point in time there is only one FDA approved treatment for the disease, though many other approaches are offered through the clinical trial process.

Mesothelioma is one of the most difficult illnesses to treat, and as of yet there has been no cure found, though many of the therapies offered through clinical trials have extended the lives of those who have participated.
