The Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO), a global leader in asbestos-related disease prevention, medical treatments, and advocacy, invites mesothelioma survivors and advocates, medical professionals, policy makers, and others to their 18th Annual International Conference. The theme of this year’s gathering, to be held on September 9, 2023, is Exploring the Intersection of Art, Advocacy, and Academia.
ADAO Conference is a Call to Action on Mesothelioma and Other Asbestos-Related Diseases
Mesothelioma advocates know the ADAO as the largest independent asbestos victims’ organization in the United States. The organization raises public awareness about the dangers of asbestos exposure and works tirelessly toward a global ban of the toxic mineral through educational programs, advocacy, and community initiatives. This year’s program will further that work through discussions about advancements in disease prevention and treatments, worldwide policy efforts, and more.
Highlights of the conference will include “BADGES: A Memorial Tribute to Asbestos Workers,” the work of award-winning photographer Earl Dotter. Attendees will be treated to lectures and presentations by many notable speakers, including a lecture from Kathleen McGrory, ProPublica’s Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist. Her recent work on the subject of asbestos has included poignant descriptions of the plight of mesothelioma victims.
Mesothelioma Victims, Professionals, and Students Invited to Attend Conference In Person or Online
The conference provides mesothelioma victims and others interested in advocacy the opportunity to learn from and engage with medical professionals, academics, and policy makers. The event will take place on September 9, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 P.M. ET at the AFL-CIO in Washington, D.C. While attendance for professionals costs $300, asbestos disease victims and students can register for $100 and receive a conference program, a boxed lunch, and entry to a full day of conference events. Those unable to attend in person can register for online access for just $25.
