The company is also associated with the “Armley asbestos disaster,” wherein an area of roughly 1,000 houses in a suburb of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England was contaminated with asbestos and at least 300 former employees are believed to have died from mesothelioma and other asbestos-related diseases.
Company Banned from Producing or Importing Asbestos
At the same time that it was driven into bankruptcy, the company was banned from producing or importing asbestos and was required to set up the substantial compensation scheme.
