Kevin Becker, MD
Dr. Kevin Becker is a medical oncologist and Chief of the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology in the Cancer Center at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Becker’s areas of expertise include lung and thoracic cancer care, prostate cancer care, and urologic cancer care. He treats patients diagnosed with lung cancers, including malignant pleural mesothelioma, esophageal cancer, genitourinary tumors, kidney cancer, bladder cancer, and other malignancies.[1]
Dr. Becker also plays an integral role in the partnership between Downstate Health Sciences University and Maimonides that expands access to cancer care in Central Brooklyn. He is growing both programs while creating collaborations and integrations to improve the care provided to patients.[2]
Education and Career
Dr. Becker is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology, and Hematology. He earned his medical degree at the Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons, then continued at Columbia for his internship and residency in Internal Medicine and his fellowship in Hematology and Oncology.[1]
Dr. Becker completed the Master of Medical Management program at Carnegie Mellon University in 2020 and the Northwell Health Physician Leadership Development Program in 2021.[2]
Professional Memberships, Activities, and Awards
Dr. Becker has participated in the Foundations of Clinical Medicine Preceptor and the Hematology Small Group Preceptor at Columbia University. He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology, the American Association for Cancer Research, and the Internal Medicine Intern Selection and Recruitment Committee at Columbia University.[1]
He has also received the Gerard Summer Research Fellowship and the Rosenbluth Foundation Travel Grant for clinical and research experience.
Research
Dr. Becker is a motivated and active researcher. His research focuses on clinical trials involving novel treatments that can improve patient outcomes, particularly for the population in Brooklyn and the surrounding area. He is also involved in expanding access to treatment to the population surrounding Maimonides.[1]
