Erin P. Ward, MD
Dr. Erin P. Ward is a surgical oncologist at the University of Utah Health and the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, Utah. Her clinical interests include metastatic colorectal cancer; appendiceal cancer; gastric cancer; neuroendocrine tumors; minimally invasive surgery; peritoneal mesothelioma; and peritoneal-based malignancies. She has particular expertise in the treatment of peritoneal surface malignancies and the use of hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy following cytoreductive surgery.[1]
Education and Career
Dr. Ward earned her medical degree at the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University. She completed her General Surgery internship and residency and a two-year research fellowship at the University of California San Diego, then completed an additional two years of training in Complex Surgical Oncology and an AHPBA Certified Hepato-Pancreatic Biliary Surgery fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She is board-certified in both General Surgery and Complex General Surgical Oncology.[1]
Today she is an Assistant Professor at the University of Utah and is one of two Commission on Cancer Liaison Physicians at the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
Research
Dr. Ward’s primary research focus is on defining the impact of psychosocial health on long-term and short-term outcomes and patient-reported outcomes.
