Traves Crabtree, MD
Dr. Traves Crabtree is a cardiothoracic surgeon who specializes in thoracic surgery for cancer at the Southern Illinois University Cardiothoracic Surgery Program at the Simmons Cancer Institute. While serving as professor of surgery and medical director of the surgical skills laboratory, Dr. Crabtree also specializes in the care of patients with pleural mesothelioma and other lung disorders.[1]
Education and Career
Dr. Crabtree graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a degree in Biology. He earned his medical degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and then completed an internship, residency, and fellowship in Surgical Infectious Disease Research from the University of Virginia School of Medicine.[1]
Dr. Crabtree is on the editorial board of the Annals of Thoracic Surgery. In addition to serving as professor of surgery and medical director of the surgical skills laboratory at Southern Illinois’ School of Medicine, he is also affiliated with Decatur Memorial Hospital, HSHS St. John’s Hospital, and Memorial Medical Center.[1]
