Anton J. Bilchik, MD, PhD, MBA, FACS
Dr. Anton J. Bilchik is an internationally recognized surgeon, scientist, and expert in advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgical techniques for abdominal and gastrointestinal cancers. He practices at who practices at Providence Saint John’s Health Center and its John Wayne Cancer Institute in Santa Monica, California. An expert in the use of hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy and cytoreductive surgery for peritoneal surface malignancies and malignant peritoneal mesothelioma. Dr. Bilchik is considered a pioneer in improving cancer staging.[1]
Dr. Bilchik believes in taking a personalized approach to patient care and in treating each patient with dignity and compassion. He has received numerous awards, recognitions, and accolades for his achievements in surgical oncology, as well as the prestigious Annual Humanitarian Award from the Anti-Defamation League. He has been ranked among the top 1% of physicians by U.S. News & World Report.[1]
Education and Career
Dr. Bilchik earned his medical degree at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. He completed an internship and residency in General Surgery at the University of California in Los Angeles and a surgical oncology fellowship at the John Wayne Cancer Institute.[1]

Research
Dr. Bilchik’s research has spent decades researching gastrointestinal cancers and took part in the first prospective international clinical trials for colon cancer. His investigations have included treatment for cancer of the pancreas, liver, and colon, as well as the use of minimally invasive surgical techniques. He has received competitive research funding from the National Cancer Institute and has had over 220 studies published in several medical and research publications.[1]
