Konstantinos Chouliaras, MD
Dr. Konstatinos Chouliaras is a surgical oncologist affiliated with Baptist Medical Center South and Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville Florida. He specializes in the use of minimally invasive robotic and laparoscopic surgical techniques and the treatment of advanced peritoneal cancers, including malignant peritoneal mesothelioma.[1] He is one of few physicians in the country skilled in cytoreductive surgery with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy, the complex surgical procedure that involves the surgical removal of all visible tumor material followed by a heated bath of highly concentrated chemotherapy to kill any cancer cells left behind.
Dr. Chouliaras manages his patients’ care with the help of a multidisciplinary team that works together to provide multifaceted treatment that is coordinated through the entire process.
Education and Career
Dr. Chouliaras earned his medical degree at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece. He completed a fellowship at the University of Southern California Medical Center, an internship and residency in General Surgery at Wake Forest Baptist Health and Medical Center, and a fellowship in Complex General Surgical Oncology at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.[1]

Dr. Chouliaras is a member of the Society for Clinical Oncology and the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract’s Early Career Working Group and its Program Subcommittee on Abdominal Wall/Peritoneal Surface/Small Bowel.

Dr. Chouliaras is an active researcher who has authored or co-authored more than 50 publications and book chapters focusing on peritoneal malignancy; liver, bile duct, and gallbladder diseases; colorectal cancer; gastroesophageal tumors; and other topics.
