Matthew J. Lasher
Matthew Lasher is an executive, veteran advocate and strategic leader with more than 30 years of experience across the public and private sectors. Throughout his career he has worked at helping individuals navigate complex systems, connect with resources, and build futures through education, advocacy and planning. As Chief Executive Officer of Veteran Services United, Matt leads an organisation committed to helping veterans obtain the benefits and support they earned through military service. That work includes connecting veterans with specialist healthcare providers, developing personalised strategies for navigating the Department of Veterans Affairs benefits system, and advocating for programmes that improve quality of life for veterans and their families. Before leading Veteran Services United he held executive leadership positions with Allegiant Vets, where as Strategic Impact Officer and Vice President of Transition Success he developed programmes for transitioning service members preparing for civilian careers, collaborating with educational institutions, employers and community organisations. He also served as Executive Director of the National Liberty Ship Memorial – SS Jeremiah O’Brien, a National Historic Landmark preserving one of the few remaining operational World War II Liberty Ships, where he oversaw organisational leadership, fundraising, strategic planning, preservation, community outreach and volunteer engagement. A United States Marine Corps veteran, Matt served 20 years in positions of increasing leadership.
