Antoinette J. Wozniak, MD, FACP, FASCO
Dr. Antoinette J. Wozniak is a medical oncologist and Chief Scientific Officer of the Lung Cancer Research Foundation. Most recently Professor of Medicine in the division of Hematology and Oncology at the University of Pittsburgh, leader of the Lung Cancer Disease Center, and Associate Director for Clinical Research at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she is a leader in innovating treatments for patients with lung cancer and malignant pleural mesothelioma, as well as thymus gland cancer.[2]
Education and Career
Dr. Wozniak graduated summa cum laude from Niagara University and then completed her medical degree at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo. She remained at the State University of New York at Buffalo for her internship and residency in Internal Medicine, then moved on to the University of Florida for her fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology.[1]
Following completion of her medical education and training, Dr. Wozniak was a Professor of Oncology, leader of the lung cancer team, and Co-Director of the Division of Hematology and Oncology at Wayne State University and the Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit, Michigan. She then accepted the position of Professor of Medicine and Interim Chief of the Division of Hematology and Oncology at the University of Pittsburgh, where she was also the Associate Director for Clinical Research at the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Medical Oncology.[1]
Professional Memberships and Activities
Dr. Wozniak is a member of the American Lung Association’s Lung Cancer Expert Medical Advisory Panel and is an active member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the Southwest Oncology Group, the American Lung Association, and the Lung Cancer Research Foundation.[2]
Research
Dr. Wozniak has dedicated much of her 30+year career to clinical research. She has been both principal investigator and co-investigator of wide-ranging clinical trials, including national trials from the Southwest Oncology Group, National Cancer Institute-sponsored studies, and pharmaceutical trials. Her research has focused on lung cancer (small cell and non-small cell), malignant pleural mesothelioma, and thymus gland cancer.
