Harmik J. Soukiasian MD, FACS
Dr. Harmik J. Soukiasian is a thoracic surgeon specializing in minimally invasive robotic thoracic surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. As Chief of Thoracic Surgery, he cares for patients diagnosed with malignant mesothelioma, lung cancer, esophageal cancer, Barrett’s esophagus, and reflux.[1]
Dr. Soukiasian holds several titles at Cedars-Sinai, including the Tawil Family Endowed Chair in Thoracic Surgery, Vice Chairman of the Department of Surgery in charge of clinical outreach, and Program Director of the Advanced Robotic Thoracic Surgery Fellowship. He is credited with having performed the first robotic thoracic case at Cedars-Sinai, and leading the facility to its position as one of the busiest robotic programs in the nation.[1]
Education and Career
Dr. Soukiasian earned his medical degree from the University of Southern California School of Medicine. He completed an internship and residency in General Surgery as well as a research fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, then completed training in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles. Following this experience, he completed a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Esophageal and Thoracic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh’s Heart, Lung, and Esophageal Institute under Dr. James Luketich and a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery under Dr. Robert McKenna at Cedars-Sinai’s Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery.[2]
