Jason Shaw, MD
Dr. Jason Shaw is the Director of General Thoracic Surgery at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York and the Director of the Maimonides Lung Cancer Screening Program. He is noted for his expertise in lung and thoracic cancer care, including for patients diagnosed with malignant pleural mesothelioma, as well as for his skill in robotic surgery.[1]
Dr. Shaw also treats patients diagnosed with lung cancer and chest wall tumors, mediastinal disorders, para-esophageal hernias, esophageal cancer, and many other challenging diseases. He is skilled in video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery and minimally invasive procedures, as well as advanced bronchoscopy and other advanced surgical techniques.
Education and Career
Dr. Shaw earned his medical degree at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. He completed his internship and residency at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell North Shore University Hospital. He completed a fellowship in Thoracic Surgery at the University of Miami/Jackson Health System and another at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.[1]

Research
Dr. Shaw is engaged in clinical research geared toward improving outcomes for patients undergoing thoracic surgery. Areas of interest include video-assisted thoracic surgery, low-dose CT screening for lung cancer, outcomes in esophageal cancer, and benign and malignant esophageal disease. He has authored text book chapters, published several peer-reviewed papers, and spoken at national conferences.[1]
