John DeRosimo, MD
Dr. John DeRosimo is a thoracic surgeon specializing in the surgical treatment of patients diagnosed with malignant and benign diseases of the lung and esophagus, as well as pleural mesothelioma. He is part of the surgical staff at the Miami Cancer Institute of Baptist Health South Florida in Miami.[1]
Dr. DeRosimo is highly skilled in the use of minimally invasive surgical procedures and robotic surgery to address the special needs of these challenging conditions.
Education and Career
Dr. DeRosimo earned his undergraduate degree at Johns Hopkins University and his medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in General Surgery at Albany Medical College and then completed an additional residency in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Case Western Reserve University/University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. He also completed a fellowship program in Thoracic Surgery at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.[1]
After completing his medical education and training, Dr. DeRosimo accepted a position as an assistant professor of surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina, where he cared for patients and served as an investigator in trials for advanced-stage lung cancer and other high-risk patients.[1]
