David P. Mason, MD
Dr. David P. Mason is an experienced thoracic surgeon who practices at Methodist Health in Dallas, Texas. He specializes in minimally invasive thoracic surgical techniques to treat lung cancer, emphysema, lung transplantation, and esophageal diseases and cancer. He also has expertise in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and has extensive experience in surgery for malignant mesothelioma.[1]
Dr. Mason is board-certified in Surgery and Thoracic Surgery. He is an internationally recognized expert in the field of thoracic surgery and is a pioneer in the field of minimally invasive surgery.
Education and Career
Dr. Mason’s undergraduate years were spent at Harvard University, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He earned his medical degree at Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons and then completed his internship, residency, and a fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.[1]
After completing his medical education and training, he practiced at the Cleveland Clinic’s Taussig Cancer Center, its Transplantation Center, and the Department of Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgery. He then accepted a position as Chief of the Department of Thoracic Surgery and Lung Transplantation at Baylor University Medical Center before assuming his current role at Methodist Health in Dallas, Texas.
Dr. Mason has also held several academic positions, including assistant professor of thoracic surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital and adjunct clinical professor at Texas A&M University College of Medicine.
