Jonathan Dowell, M.D.
Dr. Jonathan Dowell is a hematologist and oncologist at the UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. He specializes in the treatment of patients diagnosed with thoracic malignancies, including malignant pleural mesothelioma, thymoma, and non-small cell and small cell lung cancers.
He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, a member of the Division of Hematology and Oncology, Program Director of the Hematology and Oncology Fellowship Program, and Chief of Hematology/Oncology at the Dallas VA Medical Center.[1]
He is board-certified in Hematology and Oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
In addition to his clinical role, Dr. Dowell co-chairs the Dallas VA Transfusion Utilization Committee and the Veterans Integrated Service Network 17 Hematology/Oncology Work Group. He also chairs the Simmons Cancer Center Data and Safety Monitoring Committee.

Research
Dr. Dowell focuses his scientific investigations on thoracic malignancies including non-small cell and small cell lung cancer, malignant pleural mesothelioma, and thymoma. His clinical trials and research has resulted in him being invited to present his findings at national and international conferences and has produced more than 40 articles and studies published in highly respected professional journals, as well as contributions to more than 30 chapters, reviews, editorials, and case reports.[1]
