Robert Meguid, MD
Dr. Robert Meguid is a thoracic surgeon and professor of cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Colorado’s Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado. His clinical focus is on benign and malignant diseases of the lung, including lung cancer and other thoracic malignancies. He is skilled in segmentectomy, lobectomy, pneumonectomy, mediastinoscopy, and bronchoscopy, as well as minimally invasive video-assisted thoracic surgical procedures.[1]
Education and Career
After graduating from Brown University as an undergraduate, Dr. Meguid earned his medical degree at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
He completed an internship and residency at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland, and then completed a fellowship in thoracic surgery at the University of Washington in St. Louis. He also earned a Master of Public Health degree from Johns Hopkins University.[1]
Dr. Meguid is now a thoracic surgeon seeing patients at UCHealth Thoracic Surgery – Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado. He is a professor of cardiothoracic surgery and the co-director of the Chest Wall Disease Management Clinic.
Dr. Meguid specializes in chest wall diseases and other complex thoracic conditions. He is skilled in minimally invasive procedures and video-assisted thoracic surgery. Dr. Meguid also treats thoracic malignancies, like lung cancer.

Dr. Meguid says, “One of the most satisfying and exciting aspects of my career as a surgeon is engaging in research with residents, medical students, and other faculty. That can be contributing to discovery, opening up opportunities, and engaging in mentorship. It’s something I have a real passion for, and I hope to share that and pass that passion on to colleagues as well.”[2]
Dr. Meguid was appointed Associate Vice Chair of Clinical Research for the Department of Surgery, in 2023.
