Michael Minarich, MD
Dr. Michael Minarich is a surgical oncologist who practices with Nuvance Health at its Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie, New York. His practice focuses on gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary malignancies for which he applies his skills and expertise in the use of cytoreductive surgery combined with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy, or HIPEC.[1]
Dr. Minarich also cares for patients diagnosed with melanoma and sarcoma as well as appendiceal malignancies. He is dedicated to ensuring that he listens carefully to his patients, answering their questions and making them comfortable with the treatment plans he develops for them in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team of specialists and colleagues who work to create the best possible management and follow-up strategy to suit their condition and wishes.[1]
Education and Career
Dr. Minarich earned his medical degree at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and completed his internship and residency in General Surgery at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, New Jersey. After completing his residency, he worked at Goshen Center for Cancer Care in Goshen, Indiana, where he received advanced training in Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC). He then went on to complete a fellowship in Complex General Surgical Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center, an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.[1]
Research
Dr. Minarich’s special interests include improving surgical outcomes for patients experiencing appendiceal malignancies and undergoing cytoreductive surgery and HIPEC therapies.
