Michael A. Valente, DO
Dr. Michael Valente is a staff surgeon in The Department of Colorectal Surgery and The Digestive Disease and Surgery Institute at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. He is also an Associate Professor of Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University and The Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and the program director of the prestigious colon and rectal residency program at Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Valente treats patients diagnosed with a wide range of conditions and diseases and is skilled in the use of hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy for the treatment of malignant peritoneal mesothelioma.
Dr. Valente is board-certified by both The American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery and The American Board of Surgery. He has a strong interest in surgical education and teaching both medical students and residents/fellows and has been awarded the distinguished teacher of the year for colorectal surgery at the Cleveland Clinic.[1]

Dr. Valente’s research interests include cancer of the appendix, peritoneum, colon, rectum and anus, cytoreductive surgery/HIPEC, complex re-operative surgery, inflammatory bowel disease, advanced endoscopic techniques, laparoscopic and minimally invasive colorectal surgery, and surgical education. He has published numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters and has presented his research interests both nationally and internationally.[1]
