David Johnstone, MD
Dr. David Johnstone is a retired thoracic and cardiothoracic surgeon at the Froedtert Hospital and Medical College of Wisconsin, where he provided technical surgical expertise to patients diagnosed with lung cancer, lung tumors, esophageal cancers, and other thoracic malignancies, including malignant pleural mesothelioma. Dr. Johnstone practiced for over twenty years and was dedicated to providing each of his patients with a clear understanding of his or her illness and the treatment choices available to them.[1]
Dr. Johnstone served as director of the thoracic disease committee at Froedtert’s cancer center, overseeing the multidisciplinary team of surgical, medical, and radiation oncology specialists and holding a weekly tumor board to determine and present patients with full consultations and treatment plans aligned to each one’s particular situation and condition.
Education and Career
Dr. Johnstone completed his undergraduate education at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, and then went on to medical school at Northwestern University in Chicago. His internship and residency in General Surgery were completed at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City and his Cardiothoracic residency was completed at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Cornell University Medical Center.[1]
After completion of his medical education and training, Dr. Johnstone spent twelve years as a thoracic surgeon at the University of Rochester Medical Center. He then joined the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and its associated Norris Cotton Cancer Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, where he spent seven years as the Director of the Comprehensive Thoracic Oncology Program and Chief of the Division of Thoracic Surgery.
