Eric Luk, MD
Dr. Eric Luk is a medical oncologist treating patients at the Messino Cancer Center in Asheville, North Carolina. He specializes in the treatment of aggressive thoracic malignancies, including malignant pleural mesothelioma, as well as head and neck cancers.
In creating treatment plans, Dr. Luk takes advantage of innovative technologies and protocols to deliver the best possible outcomes for his patients. His approach to care is personal: “I focus on patient-centered care first and foremost, finding ways to improve my patients’ quality of life. By educating my patients on their diagnoses and offering insights into recommended therapies, I can help them make more informed health decisions.”[1]
Education and Career
Dr. Luk earned his medical degree at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana, and then completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School in Worcester, Massachusetts. He completed his medical education and training with a fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at Ochsner Health in New Orleans. He joined Messino Cancer Center in March of 2023.[1]
Research
Dr. Luk’s research centers on improving outcomes for patients diagnosed with aggressive cancers, including malignant pleural mesothelioma and other thoracic malignancies. He received a grant in 2020 for his work investigating food insecurity among cancer patients.[1]
