Eugene Choi, MD
Dr. Eugene Choi is a surgical oncologist and associate professor of surgery at the Baylor College of Medicine and the Dan L. Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. His professional interests include melanoma, skin and soft tissue cancer, wide local excision, and retroperitoneal sarcoma, and he has expertise in the complex surgical technique cytoreductive surgery with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy, which has proven to be very effective in treating malignant peritoneal mesothelioma.
Dr. Choi enjoys working as a member of a multidisciplinary team of medical and surgical oncologists and radiation oncologists to provide his patients with the best care possible.
Education and Career
Dr. Choi earned a bachelor of arts from the University of Chicago, where he majored in Biological Sciences. He earned his medical degree at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, then completed his internship and residency in General Surgery at the University of Chicago, where he also served as administrative chief resident. Dro Choi completed a Surgical Oncology research fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania and a Surgical Oncology clinical fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Research
Dr. Choi’s research interests include understanding the signaling mechanisms of solid tumor cancer metastasis and the development of novel drug therapies.
