Gerard Abood, MD
Dr. Gerard Abood is a surgical oncologist specializing in gastrointestinal and abdominal malignancies at Loyola Medicine in Maywood, Illinois. He cares for patients at the Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center as well as at Ascension Alexian Brothers Cancer Care Elk Grove in Elk Grove, Illinois.
Dr. Abood is skilled in a variety of innovative surgical techniques for the treatment of foregut, hepatobiliary, and peritoneal disease, including minimally invasive and robotic surgeries. He has expertise in the use of hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy in combination with cytoreductive surgery for patients diagnosed with malignant peritoneal mesothelioma.[1]

Dr. Abood earned his medical degree at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He completed an internship and residency in General Surgery at the Stritch School of Medicine of Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois, and a fellowship in Complex Surgical Oncology and Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.[1]
Following completion of his medical education and training, he accepted a position with Loyola University Health System.
