Harveshp Mogal, MD, MS, FACS, DABS, FSSO
Dr. Harveshp Mogal is a surgical oncologist at UW Medicine and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle, Washington. Dr. Mogal’s medical specialties include gastrointestinal cancer, soft tissue tumors, liver tumors, and skin cancer care, as well as treatment of malignant peritoneal mesothelioma.
Dr. Mogal is a board-certified surgical oncologist whose focus on the care of patients with advanced cancers of the abdomen has led to his expertise in the complex combination treatment called cytoreductive surgery with hyperthermic intraperitoneal mesothelioma, or CRS with HIPEC. He is dedicated to working with a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based cancer care.[1]
Education and Career
Dr. Mogal has an extensive educational background, starting with earning his medical degree at D Y Patil University and the University of Mumbai. He began his General Surgical Residency at Grant Medical College, then moved on to the University of Medical Center before pursuing an additional internship and residency in General Surgery at St. Louis University School of Medicine. He completed a fellowship at Wake Forest University, where he developed expertise in hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy, a protocol used to treat abdominal cancers that have spread to the lining of the abdominal cavity, as well as malignant peritoneal mesothelioma. He also earned a Master of Science in Clinical and Translational Science at the Medical College of Wisconsin.[1]
Today he is an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at the UW School of Medicine and also serves as the director of regional cancer therapies at UW Medicine.
