Helen J. Ross, MD
Dr. Helen J. Ross is a medical oncologist who specializes in the treatment of lung cancers of all types, including malignant pleural mesothelioma, at RUSH University Cancer Center in Chicago, Illinois. In addition to her role as professor of Internal Medicine, Oncology and as Interim Chief of the Division of Hematology, Oncology, and Cellular Therapy, she is also the Director of Research and Clinical Trials.[]
Dr. Ross is board-certified in Oncology and Internal Medicine. She is dedicated to improving treatment and quality of life for patients with thoracic malignancies through excellence in clinical care and clinical trials, supporting their families and loved ones, and promoting the welfare and professional development of clinicians, faculty, and staff in healthcare.
Education and Career
Dr. Ross earned her medical degree at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and then completed a fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at the UCLA Medical Center.[1]
Her distinguished career has led her through increasing levels of responsibility in thoracic medical oncology programs at the Oregon Health & Science University; the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona; and Banner M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Gilbert, Arizona before assuming her role at RUSH University Cancer Center.

Research
In addition to the care she provides directly to clients, Dr. Ross is the director of research and clinical trials at RUSH University Cancer Center. Her research centers on tumor and molecular biology, and she has served as Principal Investigator on numerous studies of targeted therapies and cancer immunotherapy, especially as part of multi-modality therapy.[1]
Her work has resulted in authorship and co-authorship of more than 150 articles, abstracts, and book chapters, including articles in Advances in Radiation Oncology, CHEST, and the International Journal of Cancer.
