John R. Roberts, MD
Dr. John R. Roberts is a board-certified thoracic surgeon at Baptist Health’s Eugene M. & Christine E. Lynn Cancer Institute in Boca Raton, Florida. His clinical interests center on the use of minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques for the treatment of patients diagnosed with lung cancer, esophageal cancer, and thoracic malignancies like pleural mesothelioma.[1]
Dr. Roberts is a founding member of the Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery Interest Group. He has a well-earned reputation for being on the cutting edge of medical technology and for working to minimize his patients’ pain.
Education and Career
Dr. Roberts graduated from Duke University summa cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree, then continued his education at Yale University Medical School. After earning his medical degree with honors, he moved on to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland to complete an internship and residency in General Surgery and a Surgical Oncology fellowship. He also completed a Thoracic Surgery fellowship at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.[1]
Following completion of his medical education and training, Dr. Roberts accepted a faculty position at the University of Pennsylvania. Over the years he has served on the faculty of Vanderbilt University and taken on the role there of Chief of General Thoracic Surgery. He later joined the Tri Star Medical Group in Nashville, Tennessee before accepting his current position on staff with Baptist Health.[2]
