K. Adam Lee, MD
Dr. K. Adam Lee is a thoracic surgeon and leader in minimally invasive lung and chest surgery at Jupiter Medical Center in Jupiter Florida. He is credited with breakthroughs in robotic-assisted surgeries that have proven to be so helpful in improving patient outcomes following lung cancer and pleural mesothelioma surgery.[1]
The Thoracic Surgery and Lung Center established under Dr. Adm Lee boasts a multidisciplinary team of experts in the detection, treatment, and care of patients with thoracic malignancies. The facility offers low-dose spiral CT lung screening, endoscopic bronchial ultrasound for biopsies, minimally invasive robotic-assisted thoracic surgery, and video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery.
Education and Career
Dr. Lee attended the University of Rochester as an undergraduate and earned his medical degree at New York Medical College. He then went on to complete an internship and residency in General Surgery at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York. He also completed a residency in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Massachusetts. He is board-certified in both Cardiothoracic Surgery and General Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.[1]
After completing his medical education and training, Dr. Lee established a cardiothoracic surgery practice in South Florida with Cleveland Clinic, Memorial Healthcare System, and Jupiter Medical Center before moving to the mid-Atlantic to practice with Kennedy Health System and participate in groundbreaking robotic-assisted thoracic surgery research. He returned to Jupiter Medical Center in 2011 as medical director of the center’s Thoracic Surgery and Lung Center.
Dr. Lee is credited with having pioneered the four-arm robotic lobectomy surgical technique for lung cancer. This breakthrough allowed thoracic surgeons to manipulate all four arms of the robotic surgical device for greater control and accuracy. He has been invited to speak about and teach the technique nationally and continues to train surgeons throughout the region.
