Renuka Malik, MD
Dr. Renuka Malik is a radiation oncologist who practices at University of Chicago Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. She specializes in the treatment of thoracic, gastrointestinal, and oligometastatic cancers including malignant pleural mesothelioma, peritoneal mesothelioma, and lung cancer, as well as gynecologic cancers, prostate cancer, breast cancer, and head and neck cancer.[1]
Dr. Malik has significant expertise in the use of stereotactic ablative radiotherapy, which uses large doses of radiation applied in localized volumes, making it a more potent form of radiation. She is also knowledgeable in advanced technologies including image-guided radiation therapy and intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), which can be used to target tumors while minimizing damage to the healthy tissue surrounding them.[1]
Education and Career
Dr. Malik is board-certified in Radiation Oncology. She earned her medical degree at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and then completed her internship at AMITA Health Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois before completing a residency in Radiation Oncology at the University of Chicago Medicine.[1]
She is a member of the American Society for Radiation Oncology.
Research
Dr. Malik’s research focuses on institutional and population-based outcomes in thoracic oncology. She is active in department quality and safety initiatives and medical education. The articles that she has authored and co-authored have appeared in numerous peer-reviewed medical journals and she has been invited to present her research at several national and international conferences.[1]
