Rupen A. Shah, MD, FACS
Dr. Rupen A. Shah is a general surgeon and senior staff surgical oncologist at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. As Director of the facility’s Peritoneal Surface Malignancy Program, he oversees the management of all types of peritoneal surface malignancies, including malignant peritoneal mesothelioma, pseudomyxoma peritonei, and other stage IV cancers using cytoreductive surgery combined with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy.[1]
Dr. Shah’s surgical practice also includes regional therapies such as isolated limb infusion for select advanced melanoma and sarcoma.
Education and Career
Dr. Shah attended the Kempegowda Institute of Medical Science and the Kasturba Medical College with a degree in General Surgery. He completed his transitional internship with the BronxCare Health System in Bronx, New York, and a General Surgery residency at Henry Ford Hospital. After completing a fellowship in Complex General /Surgical Oncology at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, he returned to Henry Ford Health as a practicing surgeon and surgical oncologist. He is also the Program Director of the General Surgery Residency.[1]
