Corey Kershaw, MD
Dr. Corey Kershaw is a pulmonologist and critical care physician at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of interstitial lung diseases. He has a particular interest in occupational and environmental lung diseases like malignant pleural mesothelioma and asbestos-related lung cancer.[1]
Dr. Kershaw is part of the Interstitial Lung Disease Program at UT Southwestern, and he says that the key to diagnosing their disease is to listen to his patients’ stories and delve into their history to identify which interstitial lung disease they have. He says, “Listening carefully and spending time with our patients helps us figure out why this happened to them, if there is a reason.” He also provides second opinions on diagnoses that elude other doctors who do not have the same level of expertise and experience with occupational exposure and its effects.[1]
Education and Career
Dr. Kershaw earned his medical degree at the McGovern Medical School at UT Health Science Center. He completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the Emory University School of Medicine and remained at Emory to complete a fellowship in Pulmonary Diseases and Critical Care Medicine.[1]
Following his education, Dr. Kershaw served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in Emory’s Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine, as well as Medical Director of the Atlanta VA Medical Center’s Medical Intensive Care Unit. At UT Southwestern, he is a member of the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and holds the titles of Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Clinical Services Chief for the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, and Medical Director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit and Respiratory Therapy at William P.
