Martin Goodman, MD
Dr. Martin Goodman is a surgical oncologist at Tufts Medicine, where he holds the title of Director of the Peritoneal Surface Malignancy Program. Ranked among the top 1% of surgeons nationwide by U.S. News & World Report, Dr. Goodman is one of the few surgeons in the country who has the experience and skill needed to perform cytoreductive surgery with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy to treat patients with malignant peritoneal mesothelioma, as well as colorectal, pancreatic, and hepatobiliary tumors.[1]
Dr. Goodman’s multidisciplinary HIPEC team at Tufts Medicine is the recipient of the “Tufts MC True Blue Award” in recognition of going above and beyond for its patients and the hospital. Dr. Goodman credits the team’s ability to collaborate for the excellent outcomes their patients experience.[1]
Education and Career
Dr. Goodman earned his medical degree at the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and then went to New York City to complete his internship at the New York Medical College at St Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center of New York. His residency in General Surgery was completed at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University/Cooper University Hospital, which he followed with a fellowship in Surgical Oncology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.[1]
Research
Dr. Goodman is dedicated to improving outcomes for patients diagnosed with peritoneal mesothelioma and other peritoneal malignancies, and is actively involved in several research studies and clinical trials aimed at making the procedure even safer and more effective.
