Brian Pettiford, MD, MBA, MMM, FACS
Dr. Pettiford is a surgical oncologist with a focus on thoracic surgery at Ochsner M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. He has extensive experience in the treatment of malignant pleural mesothelioma and the use of robotic surgery for the treatment of lung cancer, benign lung disease, and esophageal cancer as well as benign lung disease and esophageal conditions.[1]
Following completion of his medical education and training, Dr. Pettiford practiced in Massachusetts, then returned to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center to serve as Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery. He joined the WellSpan Health System as a cardiothoracic surgeon from 2009 through 2014 before joining Ochsner Health.[1]
Dr. Pettiford’s notable career also includes having achieved the rank of lieutenant commander during his service in the U.S. Navy Reserve Medical Corps from 1998 to 2006, earning an MBA from the University of Miami Herbert School of Business in 2018, and earning a Master of Medical Management degree from the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in 2023.[1]

Dr. Pettiford is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and holds memberships in the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the Southern Thoracic Surgical Society, and the Eastern Cardiothoracic Surgical Society.
