Nikolaos A. Dallas, MD
Dr. Nikolaos A. Dallas is a general surgeon who practices at Advocate Medical Group in Chicago, Illinois. He is board-certified in both General Surgery and Complex General Surgical Oncology and specializes in malignancies of the gastrointestinal tract and the hepatobiliary tract, as well as melanoma, breast cancer, thyroid cancer, sarcoma, and metastatic disease.[1]
Dr. Dallas has a special interest in peritoneal disease and is one of a few surgeons in Chicago to perform the hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) procedure, including for patients diagnosed with malignant peritoneal mesothelioma. The complex procedure combines cytoreductive surgery to remove as much cancerous material as possible followed by the open surgical site being bathed with a heated, concentrated chemotherapy solution. The treatment has been shown to significantly extend survival for patients diagnosed with the rare, asbestos-related disease.[1]
Education and Career
Dr. Dallas earned his medical degree from the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. He completed an internship and residency in General Surgery at the McGaw Medical Center at Northwestern, as well as a post-doctoral fellowship in research at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, and another fellowship there in Complex General Surgical Oncology. Dr. Dallas also earned a Master of Business Administration in Health Policy from Ball State University.[2]
