Alexandra Gangi, MD
Dr. Alexandra Gangi is double board-certified in General Surgery and Complex General Surgical Oncology. She is the Director of the Gastrointestinal Tumor Program and Cancer Regional Therapies Program at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where she specializes in the surgical management of hepatic-pancreatic-biliary malignancies, abdominal malignancies, and peritoneal malignancies including malignant peritoneal mesothelioma.[1]
Dr. Gangi’s skills include laparoscopic surgery, robotic surgery, and cytoreductive surgery with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy.
Education and Career
Dr. Gangi attended the University of California at Irvine as an undergraduate and then earned her medical degree at the Drexel University College of Medicine. He completed an internship and residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and a surgical oncology fellowship at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center. She joined Cedars Sinai after completing her medical education and training.[1]
Research
Dr. Gangi’s research involves collecting tissue from primary and metastatic bowel neuroendocrine tumors and sequencing them to identify differences in their epigenetic signatures. She is also involved in numerous translational and clinical research projects examining the comparative effectiveness of various surgical and medical treatments in gastroesophageal and hepato-pancreatico-biliary malignancies.[1]
