Fadi Dahdaleh, MD, FACS, FSSO
Dr. Fadi Dahdaleh is a surgical oncologist and system medical director for minimally invasive cancer surgery at Edward-Elmhurst Health in Chicago, Illinois. He specializes in the treatment of gastrointestinal, abdominal, hepato-pancreato-biliary, soft tissue, and cutaneous tumors. Among his skills, he has expertise in cytoreductive surgery with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy, a complex, combination procedure that offers improved quality of life and extended survival for patients diagnosed with malignant peritoneal mesothelioma.[1]
Dr. Dahdaleh has been recognized for his skill and knowledge. He works as part of a multidisciplinary team that includes medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, gastroenterologists, radiologists, pathologists, genetic counselors, and other support professionals to ensure that his patients receive high-quality, evidence-based care.
Education and Career
Dr. Dahdaleh earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and his medical degree at the American University of Beirut in Lebanon. He completed an internship and residency in General Surgery as well as a research fellowship in Molecular Biology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and a fellowship in Complex General Surgical Oncology at the University of Chicago, where he received specialized training in advanced robotic techniques.[1]
Professional Memberships and Activities
Dr. Dahdaleh is an active member of several professional medical societies and organizations, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American College of Surgeons, and the Society of Surgical Oncology. He is also active in mentoring students and surgeons in training, helps other practicing surgeons implement robotics into their practice, and serves as the director of the Robotics Steering Committee at Edward Hospital.[1]
Research
Dr. Dahdaleh’s research focuses on the effect of different surgical approaches on cancer patient outcomes, as well as the impact of sociodemographic disparities on access to cancer care. He has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters in the field of surgical oncology and is frequently invited to present his work regionally and nationally to gatherings of medical professionals.[1]
