Hsienchang Chiu, MD
Dr. Hsienchang Chiu is an interventional pulmonologist at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, who sees patients at the Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center. He specializes in pulmonary and critical care medicine, with a special interest in airway and pleural interventions and cancer-related pulmonary complications.[1]
Education and Career
Dr. Chiu completed his undergraduate training in biology and anthropology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He then moved on to UT Southwestern, where he earned his medical degree, completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine, and a fellowship in Pulmonary Diseases & Critical Care Medicine.
He completed another fellowship in Pulmonary Diseases & Critical Care Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and an additional year of post-fellowship training in interventional pulmonology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center at Houston.[1]
Dr. Chiu is currently a pulmonologist seeing patients at the Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center in Dallas, Texas. He is also an associate professor at UT Southwestern Medical Center.
Dr. Chiu specializes in advanced minimally invasive procedures, including endoscopy and bronchoscopy. He diagnoses and stages lung cancer. He treats pleural diseases, complex airway obstructions, lung metastases, and bronchectasis.
He is also part of the multidisciplinary mesothelioma program at UT Southwestern, offering expertise in therapeutic and diagnostic procedures for lung diseases.
He is a Diplomate of the American Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology and a member of the American Thoracic Society and the American College of Chest Physicians.
