Nathan Bolton, MD
Dr. Nathan Bolton is a surgical oncologist at Ochsner MD Anderson Cancer Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. In addition to treating patients diagnosed with peritoneal mesothelioma, he specializes in GI cancers, neuroendocrine tumors, sarcoma, melanoma, peritoneal surface malignancy, and peritoneal carcinomatosis. He has expertise in the use of cytoreductive surgery combined with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC).[footntote num=”1″]
Education and Career
Dr. Bolton earned his medical degree at the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans and then completed an internship and residency in General Surgery at the Ochsner Clinic Foundation.
He completed a fellowship in Complex General Surgical Oncology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery.
Dr. Bolton is currently a surgical oncologist at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans and St. Tammany Cancer Center in Covington, Louisiana.
He specializes in GI cancers and peritoneal malignancies, including peritoneal mesothelioma. He is one of the few surgeons who can perform cytoreductive surgery with HIPEC, a vital treatment for peritoneal mesothelioma patients.
Research
Dr. Bolton’s research focuses on peritoneal surface malignancies, upper gastrointestinal malignancies, peritoneal carcinomatosis, neuroendocrine tumors, sarcoma, melanoma, and hepatopancreaticobiliary malignancies.
He is actively involved in clinical trials in furtherance of improving patient outcomes and has authored and co-authored articles reporting on his findings.
